چکیده

Bone marrow samples from normal adults and children with nonhematologic malignancies not involving the marrow, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in continued remission, and immune cytopenias were studied by twocolor immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry to characterize common acute lymphoblastic leukemia antigen (CALLA)-positive marrow lymphoid cells. Marrow was separated by Ficoll/Hypaque centrifugation followed by passage over a monoclonal antibody affinity column to remove myeloid cells prior to IF staining. A higher proportion of CALLA-positive cells was found in the pediatric marrows (mean, 33.7% ± 6.3% SEM) than in the adult marrows (mean, 4.5% ± 1 .6% SEM). Two subpopulations of CALLApositive cells identified by cell sorting to be of lymphoid morphology were found in both adult and pediatric marrows. A small subpopulation comprising 1 2.3% of the total CALLA-positive cells was characterized by a high intensity of CALLA. terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT). and MY1O expression. but low Bi . common leukocyte antigen. and peanut agglutinin receptor expression. Alpha-Synuclein Expression in Acute Erythroleukaemia, Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia, and Normal Counterparts in Bone Marrow

Background:Alpha-synuclein is a member of synuclein family of proteins with unidentified function localized in the cytoplasm, mitochondria of neurons, and presynaptic nerve endings. Although it is found in the Lewy bodies in synucleinopathies and in Alzheimer’s disease, the protein could also be considered as a novel marker in diagnosis of dis...

Advances in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Mobilization and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation

Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) which give rise to different blood cell types are present within the bone marrow microenvironment, especially in flat bones such as skull, vertebrae, pelvis and chest. Interacting factors such as stromal derived factor-1/CXCR4, very late antigen-4/vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, Lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1/ intercellular adhesion molec...

a case of acute leukemia with multiple complications due to leukemia and it\'s treatment: case report

Background: Acute leukemia is one of the most common types of childhood malignancies and one fourth of malignancies in this age group is acute leukemia. Acute leukemia may be myeloid or lymphoid. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is characterized with abnormal proliferation of lymphoid cells and symptoms related to this are acute and if disease is not treated appropriately, it progresses rapidly and...

Selective expression of the common acute lymphoblastic leukemia (gp 100) antigen on immature lymphoid cells and their malignant counterparts.

The selectivity of monoclonal antibody J-5 (anti-gp 100, common ALL antigen) for normal and leukemic hemopoietic cells has been investigated. J-5 gave concordant reactions with rabbit anti-cALL, coredistributed on the cell surface, and precipitated a similar if not identical glycoprotein from leukemic and normal tissue. Normal, immature lymphoid cells reactive with J-5 were detected in bone mar...
